Kate Shepherd "Schroeder Practices"
Dieu Donné
This event has ended.
Shepherd developed a new body of work in handmade paper through the Lab Grant Program for mid-career artists. These luminous, structural forms reveal another lineage of Shepherd’s exploration of color and the desire for a clear, communicative, and resolved language in painting. Her planar structures and interior/exterior spaces find seamless translation in paper, developed meticulously with collaborators Rachel Gladfelter and Megan Moorhouse. Shepherd concluded the residency with the creation of Rondeau, an edition of fifteen vibrant carnival flags; lace patterns of unmeasured triangles fit together to reveal interlocking diamonds.
