Wei Kang will explain the inspiration behind his paintings and unveil his painting process during a live painting demonstration using the rubber pen to create one of his landscape paintings. In his catalogue essay Wei Kang: Pleasures of the (Rubber) Pen, famous Asian contemporary art critic, Jonathan Goodman, stipulates that” The results of this technical invention dominate Wei’s exquisite style, especially in his abstractions which are resonant with color. The jewel-like brilliance of his hues consequently captures the attention of his audience”.
Wei Kang: The Depth of Black is curated by Lu Quan, who is a Senior Researcher and Curator at Shanghai Art Museum, China.
