This summer, London artist Chris Long is celebrating childhood with This is Fun, a solo show at gallery hanahou featuring his new original works of children in their natural environments. With bright acrylics, Chris captures the exuberant feelings of children when adults have stepped out of the picture and kids are free to be themselves.

This is Fun will also feature a painted mural by the artist and a display of drawings by local kids. The gallery will be furnished with Bam-Bam Table & Chairs sets courtesy of Hic-cup Children’s Furniture by Christopher Ross (hic-cup.com).
Grownup visitors will smile to see something familiar and truthful in Chris’s images of childhood, and young visitors will be encouraged to explore their own creativity with a free coloring book of illustrations by Chris. This is going to be fun!

For those who can't make it to the show in New York, all of the artwork in the show will be available for viewing and purchase via galleryhanahou.com starting July 16.

Widely recognized for his funky images of glamorous women Chris Long has worked in commercial illustration for over 20 years. In 2003, he created the character designs for the animated commercials of Mattel's MyScene toys, and his illustrations frequently appear in magazines and on the covers of popular books in the US and the UK. His many clients include QVC, Glamour, Penguin Books, BBC Worldwide, Vogue, Perrier, Pearson and The New York TImes.

Chris's illustrations of children are inspired by memories of his own childhood and by watching his son grow up in an area of South London that is lively with kids at play.
