Alice A. Carter is an illustrator, writer and professor at the School of Art and Design at the San Jose State University. Her illustration clients have included Lucasfilm Ltd., Rolling Stone Magazine and the New York Times. Her recent publications include four books: The Art of National Geographic: One Hundred Years of Illustration, (1999); The Red Rose Girls: An Uncommon Story of Art and Love, (2000); The Essential Thomas Eakins (2001); and Cecilia Beaux: A Modern Painter in the Golden Age (2005).
