This event has ended.

Owen Gray's new paintings present an intimate world, teaming with nature that is trying to survive. The cross section of wildlife includes monkeys, birds, reptiles, and insects aggressively guarding their territory in a tropical world. Some paintings are dominated by mussels that blacken the water which is interwoven with snakes, frogs, and insects. Other paintings include dug out boats colliding into each other along with symbols and creatures that have a prickly presence in a haphazard way. Gray's interests in water and nature with its foliage and animals find expression in compositions that swirl with light and color to create his fantasy world. Elements from Peter Brueghel, Hieronymus Bosch and 17th century Dutch still life painting have been part of Gray's subject matter. Many other passages, evoking a sense of danger or playfulness, have been from his dreams of swimming along side the aquatic creatures.
