Xenia Hausner’s newest work combines her mastery as a humanist painter with her gifts in photography and collage to create tableaux of deep emotion. These large-scale paintings engage the viewer with direct and intense regard of their subjects. Neither portraits nor narrative paintings in the traditional sense, these works are deeply moving explorations of the intimate moments that define character and personality. Hausner’s work engages the viewer with scale, brilliant color and composition so that the humanity of each work is completely fascinating.
