This event has ended.

"Studies for Paintings" features graphite drawings, some with colored pencil and wash, which have served as preparatory studies for many of the artist’s best-known paintings. On view for the first time, these rare works have never left his studio before now. The drawings are shown concurrently with a major traveling retrospective, George Tooker, which is on exhibition at the National Academy Museum, New York. Tooker, born in 1920 has long been highly regarded for his luminous and sometimes enigmatic paintings. His themes range from alienation and the dehumanizing aspects of contemporary society to personal meditations on the human to guide the development of the painting.
