Tyrome Tripoli "Blue Construction"

Y Gallery (the Bowery)

This event has ended.

Tripoli's work is comprised of found objects that are used "as is" and combined into simple compositions. Disparate elements are assembled into unexpected juxtapositions, connected with the utmost precision, and fastened together with threaded rods, washers, and bolts. While seemingly incongruous, they are integrated into a unified form. The materials become transformed as the referential information of their past life is obscured. It is the relationship between the materials that causes a subtext of new meaning, leaving the piece open to metaphoric exploration and allowing us to reinterpret the ordinary.

Tyrome Tripoli was born in Los Angeles, California in 1967. He has a BS from UCSD in Biochemistry with emphasis in Molecular Biology and Fine Arts studies. He has undertaken numerous public art commissions and has exhibited in Mercer Gallery (New York), Riffiutto Riusato Ad Arte (Brescia, Italy), Galleria Maria Cilena (Milan), Espejo Gallery (Madrid), Tacheles (Berlin), X-Zincografia (Venice), Literature Museum (Bucharest), Soap Box Galley (Los Angeles), and the Istanbul Bienali among many others. He lives and works in Brooklyn.
